weekend pool plans
Maybe it was just me, but summers of my childhood were completely defined by my snap and set pools. From the last day of school til I was back on the bus, I could be found attempting to make whirlpools in my shallow plastic bowl of bliss. I remain unconvinced that heaven is not a sundae cone eaten while sitting in a cool pool on a hot day.
Though it’s a little late in the summer, we’ve tapped into my childhood recently and set up two pools for weekend fun. The first pool was around the mid July:
This pool has a story of its own. It is actually the one we got for laboring during our homebirth. Though he didn’t arrive in this cheerful bubble, Ennis thoroughly enjoys splashing in it now.
While fun for an afternoon, it was really too small for swimming for his much taller dad who couldn’t straighten out his legs. So when we saw larger pools on sale at Big Lots, we bought one of those 10 feet by 30 inch blow-up pools. I mean really, how could we resist more opportunities to get this baby in his pool gear?
So after Daniel built a box for the sand, borrowed a truck and a friend, bought sand, and did all the work to set our larger pool up, we finally broke it in last weekend (photos to come I promise).
After this week of definitely not bliss, I cannot wait to pass some time getting my fingers and toes all pruney with my sweet little water loving family.
